Sold as a pairWhat part six actually says about sleeves
For the fourteen hours after the warm start
Our own book is blunt about elastic sleeves. They are not doing anything mechanical. They are not holding the joint together, and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling. What many people find is that a knee feels better with something warm and snug around it, probably through the warmth itself and the sensory feedback of the pressure. Part six calls that a real reason to wear one and a poor reason to spend a lot.
So here is the version that follows from it. A plain light gray knit pair. No hinges, no straps, no panels, no logo, no story. Warmth through the cold months and something to feel on the knee across a long day on your feet, for twenty five dollars. Worth trying because it is cheap is the whole claim, and it is the one the book makes.

What a sleeve is actually for
Two things it does, one thing it does not, and we would rather lead with all three than bury the third.

Warmth through the cold months
Part five says keep the joint warm rather than the room hot, and that a thin layer under your trousers from November to March does more for a stiff knee than the thermostat does. A knit sleeve is that layer, sitting on the part of the leg that wants it.
The feel of something snug
The sensory feedback of pressure around the joint is the other half of why people keep wearing sleeves. It is not mechanical support and we are not going to call it that. It is still the reason a lot of people put one on every morning.
Cheap enough that trying costs you nothing much
That is the argument in part six, word for word. A fitted unloader brace is a different object for a different job, and whoever proposes one should be able to tell you which side of your knee it is unloading and why.
How to wear it
- 1
Take the larger size if you are between two
Small, medium, large and extra large. A sleeve you have to fight on at seven in the morning is a sleeve that lives in a drawer by February.
- 2
Put it on before the knee stiffens, not after
On the way into the day, after the warm start, while you are still sitting on the edge of the bed. The point of it is the hours you are on your feet, not the hour after they already ache.
- 3
Take it off at night
There is no reason to sleep in one, and part five would rather you had a pillow under the knees. If the knit leaves a mark or the calf feels tight, it is a size too small.

Questions
Which size do I take?
If you are between two, take the larger. We are not publishing a measurement chart yet, because the only one we have is the factory's and we have not measured a pair ourselves. When we have, the numbers go on this page. That is a worse answer than a chart and it is the true one.
Will it hold my knee together?
No. Part six says an elastic sleeve is not doing anything mechanical, and we are not going to sell you something on a claim our own book contradicts. What it does is keep the joint warm and give you the feel of something snug, which many people find helps. If you need a brace that takes load off one side of the knee, that is a fitted item and it needs a professional, not a web page.
Is there latex in it?
We do not know, and we are not going to guess on a page a person with an allergy might be reading. The factory describes the knit as bamboo charcoal fiber and cotton with an elastic yarn, and elastic yarn in this kind of sleeve is sometimes latex and sometimes not. We have asked for the composition in writing. Until it arrives, if you react to latex, do not buy this pair.
Should I wear this instead of the Avor wrap?
They do different jobs. The wrap is ten minutes of heat before you need the knee. The sleeve is the thin bit of warmth that stays on for the rest of the day. If you are only buying one thing, buy the wrap.
Cheap enough to just try
That is the case part six makes, and it is the case we are making. Wear them for ninety days through the cold end of the year. If they do nothing for you, send them back for a refund. Return postage is yours.
